Reading, Pa. (June 9, 2009) - Lacrosse website laxpower.com released its list of biggest team improvements with Alvernia University ranking in the top five for improvements from 2008 to 2009. The Crusaders finished the season 8-9 after posting a 2-13 record a season ago.

Reading, Pa. (June 8, 2009) - Junior pitcher Shane Zellers (Wisconisco, Pa./Williams Valley) was recently named to the 2009 Division III South Baseball East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) First Team. This honor comes after Zellers was named the Freedom Conference Pitcher of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Freedom First Team.

Reading, Pa. (June 8, 2009) - Alvernia University senior Brian Longo (Uncasville, Conn./Montville) will serve a second term as the President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) for the 2009-2010 school year.

(May 15, 2009) - The fifth-seeded College of New Jersey got a big two-out, two-run single in the first and carried the momentum for an 8-2 win over #7 Alvernia University (27-17) Friday morning in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Baseball Regional at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Crusaders are eliminated with the loss and TCNJ advances in the losers bracket to face #6 Elizabethtown, a 9-2 winner over #8 Penn State-Berks.

(May 14, 2009) - The effort on the mound remained largely the same as sophomore Chuck Nicholas (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) allowed just one run through eight, but the results at the plate were starkly different on Thursday as #7 Alvernia University (27-16) pounded out 12 hits in a 10-1 win over #3 Montclair State University (26-19) in day two action of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Baseball Regional at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Reading, Pa. (May 12, 2009) - Alvernia University has promoted assistant coach Lindsay Trottier to the position of head softball coach. Trottier replaces 12-year head coach Craig Wojszwillo as the fifth head coach of the program and will lead the Crusaders into their first year in the Commonwealth Conference next season.
