BOX SCORE

Boyertown, Pa. (May 16, 2007) – Sophomore third baseman Tim McMenamin (Maple Shade, NJ) smacked a two-out, two-run, walk-off homer in the 10th inning to carry fourth-seeded Gwynedd-Mercy College to a 5-3 win over #5 Frostburg St. in game one of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Baseball Regional at Bear Stadium.

Gwynedd-Mercy (31-10) surrendered a one-run lead in the ninth to set up McMenamin’s game-winner, his sixth home run of the season.  Reynolds threw five innings of relief to pick up his fifth win of the season.  He gave up two runs on five hits with two strikeouts.

Gwynedd-Mercy opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the second inning.  Senior rightfielder Anthony Capella (Philadelphia, PA) ripped a ball down the leftfield line for a double and was still at second after a pair of flyouts to center before the Griffins rattled off three straight hits to take an early 2-0 lead.

Frostburg St. (31-14) got one run back in the top of the fourth when senior catcher Ryan Webb (Westminster, MD) drove an opposite-field home run over the wall in right.

GMC reestablished the two-run cushion with a run in the fifth, and Frostburg again used the long ball to pull within one.  After Webb grounded out to start the sixth, first baseman Allen Peake (Fredricksburg, VA) hit a long fly ball to left for a 3-2 score.

Frostburg St. managed just two more hits until the ninth when Joe Clark (Crozet, VA) led off with a single, took second on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on Burke’s single to center.

Sophomore catcher Nick DiEnno (Philadelphia, PA) drew a two-out walk in the 10th in front of McMenamin’s blast.  Frostburg St. will come back Wednesday evening to face top-seeded Kean University at 8:00 p.m.
