Boyertown, Pa. (May 18, 2007) – Senior PJ Anzelone (Vernon Township, NJ) hit a two-run home run and senior Dave Waseleski (Lawrenceville, NJ) improved to 6-0 with four scoreless innings to lead regional second seed The College of New Jersey past #6 Elizabethtown College, 3-1, in the 2007 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Baseball Regional Tournament at Bear Stadium.

            Anzelone broke a tie at 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning when he connected for his third home run of the season plating senior Matt Zonies (Marlton, NJ) who had reached base via hit by pitch to start the inning.

            Waseleski did the rest as he allowed just two hits and two walks over four innings while striking out six.  He relieved junior Mike Oliver (Crosswicks, NJ) who had pitched the first five innings allowing seven hits and one run while striking out seven.

            TCNJ (34-10) had the game’s first lead, 1-0, when junior Dave Mebs (Cinnaminson, NJ) hit his second home run of the season in the top of the third inning.  Etown (23-18) tied the game at one in the bottom of the fifth inning when freshman Matt Vinagro (Fredericksburg, VA) doubled to the wall in left field plating senior Jared Morris (Brielle, NJ).

           Sophomore Matt Kutz (New Cumberland, PA) took the loss for the Blue Jays, pitching 6 1/3 innings allowing nine hits and three runs to fall to 2-5 on the year.  The Lions had 10 hits in the win including three from senior Dan Czepiga (Lawrenceville, NJ) and two from Zonies.  Vinagro, senior Mike Donahue (Hatfield, PA) and junior Jared Auman (Northumberland, PA) each had two hits to lead a nine-hit Elizabethtown attack.

            The Lions advance in the loser’s bracket and will face fourth seeded Gwynedd-Mercy College at 4:30 pm.

Baseball
Batted .667 (10-15) with three doubles, one triple, and three RBIs in a 2 win, 2 lose week for the Crusaders. Also scored 9 runs and was perfect in stolen base attempts. (3-3)
Softball
Batted .600 (7-12) in two conference matchups for the Crusaders this week. Two doubles, one triple, and two homeruns contributed to four RBIs for Sorrentino, also plated 6 runs scored.

Reading, Pa. (June 18, 2008) - Former Alvernia College catcher Anthony Recker continues to impress at every level. The two-time Pennsylvania Athletic Conference player of the year will make his third straight All-Star appearance this summer representing the Midland Rockhounds in the 2008 Texas League All-Star game next Wednesday in Springfield, Missouri.
