Alvernia Intramural Mission Statement

The Alvernia University Department of Intramural and Recreation Sports, as part of a college with roots in the Franciscan tradition, strives to contribute to the complete realization of the student as an intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual being. You don’t have to be an athlete to play; these recreational activities are for everyone. Participants can choose to play at either the competitive or recreational level for the sports that are offered.

South Reading Youth Initiative Takes A Trip To Body Zone

Wyomissing, Pa. (Nov. 17, 2008) - When the Alvernia Ice Hockey Team took on Dickinson College on Sunday, 20 children from the South Reading Youth Initiative came to cheer them on. The kids were excited throughout the entire game, absorbing the atmosphere of the rink and cheering for the Crusaders who defeated the Red Devils, 7-3.

Crusaders Hit A Homerun At Lauer’s Park

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 11, 2008) - Throughout the month of October, the Alvernia University Baseball Team spent most Wednesday afternoons in the city of Reading working with boys and girls from Lauer's Park Elementary School. Approximately 15 members of the AU baseball team traveled to Lauer's Park on Wednesdays to work with 27 boys and girls ranging in age from 3rd through 5th grade.

Crusader Soccer Moves To Sovereign Bank Sports Park

Reading, PA (Sept. 30, 2009) - Beginning on September 30th all home Men's and Women's Soccer games will be played at Sovereign Bank Sports Park due to on-campus construction. Sovereign Bank Sports Park has previously served Alvernia as a soccer and lacrosse practice facility, and with a new playing surface on Plateau Three it provides an excellent venue for our soccer teams to excel.

Alvernia College Now Alvernia University
