Reading, Pa. (Aug. 10, 2010) - Former Alvernia University third baseman, Zach Lutz was named Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending August 1. Lutz, who plays for the Binghamton Mets, made up for lost time returning from the disabled list on July 27 and smashing five home runs and collecting 11 RBIs in five games for the Mets.

Reading, Pa. (July 12, 2010) - Alvernia University will welcome a pair of PIAA State Champions to the baseball roster this coming fall with the additions of Christopher Dock grad Alex Summers and Conrad Weiser alum Mike Weinhold. Summers drove in a pair of runs with two out in the home half of the seventh to give the Pioneers a 4-3 comeback win over Serra Catholic in the Class A final and Weinhold had a pair of doubles in the Scouts 6-2 win over Hershey in the AAA final.

Reading, Pa. (June 17, 2010) - Wednesday evening Alvernia University senior Shane Zellers (Wiconisco, Pa./Williams Valley) was at home thinking about his next start for his summer league baseball team. Thursday morning he was on a plane to New England to join the Vermont Lake Monsters, a minor league affiliate of the Washington Nationals and members of the New York-Penn League.

Reading, Pa. (June 9, 2010) - Alvernia senior Shane Zellers (Wiconisco, Pa./Williams Valley) was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Division III First Team as announced by the ECAC in late May.
