Pottsville, Pa. (November 7, 2009) - The Alvernia Crusader Softball Team volunteered their Saturday to assist at the Family Reading Festival in Pottsville. This is the second year that your Crusaders have helped this program become a great success. The Crusaders assisted with various arts and crafts projects while helping children with reading skills.

Reading, Pa. (October 28, 2009) - Crusader Softball Head Coach Lindsay Berger (Seton Hall, 2005) beat out 250 other hopefuls to land a softball player role in an upcoming major motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon, Jack Nicholson , Owen Wilson and Paul Rudd. Coach Berger will be playing a member of the Australian National team as they take on the USA National Team in a currently untitled movie directed by James L. Brooks.

Harleysville, Pa. (October 4, 2009) - The Crusader Softball team concluded their non-traditional season with a three-game tournament in Harleysville, Pa. on Sunday. Alvernia opened their day defeating Immaculata University 4-0, then downed Gwynedd-Mercy 5-4 before a tight game over Ursinus College that ended in 5-0 favor for the Crusaders.

Reading, Pa. (June 8, 2009) - 18 Crusader student-athletes were named to the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Spring Academic Honor Roll as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. This Honor Roll comprises student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale and completed the playing season in good standing.
Eric Focht's sliding play behind the bag got the Crusaders out of the eighth.
Reading, Pa. (May 20, 2009) - The Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation announced its first annual sportsmanship teams for spring 2009 conference sports on Monday May 18.

Reading, Pa. (May 12, 2009) - Alvernia University has promoted assistant coach Lindsay Trottier to the position of head softball coach. Trottier replaces 12-year head coach Craig Wojszwillo as the fifth head coach of the program and will lead the Crusaders into their first year in the Commonwealth Conference next season.

Senior volleyball and softball player Lauren Crimi (Nazareth, Pa./Notre Dame) and Men's Soccer player Chad Quinter (Exeter, Pa./Exeter) were named the Outstanding Senior Athletes of the Year.

Reading, Pa. (May 4, 2009) - Junior outfielder Janelle Lynch (Macungie, Pa./Brandywine) was named to the Second Team All-Freedom as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. Lynch was the Crusader's lead-off batter and patrolled left and center field throughout 32 games this season.
