Scranton, Pa. (Mar. 11, 2008) – The University of Scranton scored the first six goals of the game en route to a 19-4 win over Alvernia College Tuesday afternoon in non-conference women’s lacrosse action at Scranton.

McKenna Shafer (Delran, N.J./Cinnaminson) notched the Crusaders first goal, and added a second for a 7-2 score 10 minutes into the contest. Scranton erased any thought of a comeback scoring the final six goals of the half for a 13-2 lead at the break.
Shafer finished the day with two goals and
Tara Walls (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and Katie O’Brien (Boothwyn, Pa./Garnet Valley) each tallied a single goal in the second half. Junior goalie
Janelle Fulmer (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) made two saves through the opening 15 minutes and sophomore
Amanda Odenwalt (Lancaster, Pa./The Janus School) finished the game and recorded nine saves.
Alvernia will travel to Swarthmore College for the weekend and play games against Haverford College on Saturday and Bryn Mawr on Sunday. The conference schedule begins March 27 at home against Centenary.
