Reading, Pa. (Mar. 17, 2008) – Alvernia College kicked off St. Patrick’s Day celebrations claiming both weekly conference baseball awards Monday afternoon. Senior catcher Dale Curry (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) batted .471 to claim the player of the week award and Andrew Long (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) posted a 0.00 ERA in eight appearances with a win and a save to claim the pitcher of the week award in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC).

The first weekly award of the season for the PAC includes statistics from all 16 games to date in which the Crusaders have posted a 12-4 record. Curry has amassed 24 base hits in 51 at-bats through 16 games with 11 of those hits going for extra bases. He has eight doubles, a triple, and a pair of home runs. He has drawn eight walks, driven in 22 runs, and has a hit in 12 of the last 13 games.

Long earned the first pitcher of the week award giving up just three hits in 9.1 innings. He has held opponents hitless in six of his eight appearances including two innings in a home win over Gwynedd-Mercy this past weekend. Opponents are batting just .094 this season. He has also recorded one save and one win and better than half of his outs have come via the strikeout, 15 of 28.

Baseball
Batted .667 (10-15) with three doubles, one triple, and three RBIs in a 2 win, 2 lose week for the Crusaders. Also scored 9 runs and was perfect in stolen base attempts. (3-3)
Softball
Batted .600 (7-12) in two conference matchups for the Crusaders this week. Two doubles, one triple, and two homeruns contributed to four RBIs for Sorrentino, also plated 6 runs scored.

(May 12, 2008) - Seven players from the Alvernia College baseball team were named to the All-Conference teams by the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference led by senior catcher Dale Curry (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) who earned the Crusaders' seventh Player of the Year award in the last eight years and freshman pitcher Chuck Nicholas (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) who earned PAC Rookie of the Year.

(May 8, 2008) - The participating coaches in the 2008 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Baseball Championship selected an All-Tournament Team on Thursday with eight players from champion Gwynedd-Mercy College making the squad including junior infielder Tim McMenamin (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) and sophomore outfielder Dan Strack (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost) who were named Tournament Co-MVPs.
