BOX SCORE

Swarthmore, Pa. (Mar. 16, 2008) – Freshman Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) scored a game-high seven goals in a 17-12 loss to Bryn Mawr College Sunday afternoon at Swarthmore College in non-conference women’s lacrosse action.

The Owls scored the first seven goals of the game before Sippel’s first of the day put the Crusaders (0-3) on the board. Senior McKenna Shafer (Delran, N.J./Cinnaminson) scored her first of three with 21 seconds left before the halftime break and Sippel added her second six seconds later and the Crusaders entered the break down 9-3.

Alvernia scored back-to-back goals early in the second half and Sippel scored the first two of three straight Alvernia goals with five minutes left, but the first half deficit proved too much to overcome.

Junior starter Janelle Fulmer (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) made seven saves in 43 minutes and sophomore Amanda Odenwalt (Lancaster, Pa./The Janus School) stopped 10 shots in 17 minutes.

Alvernia will start the conference schedule next Thursday when it hosts Centenary College at 4:00 p.m.
