Reading, Pa. (Apr. 11, 2008) – Alvernia College junior Tyrone Bradley (Chester, Pa./Chester) and sophomore Jasmine Morales (Montville, Pa./Montville Twp.) were both selected to represent Alvernia at the 2008 NCAA National Student-Athlete Conference at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, May 25-29.

The conference includes 700 student-athletes chosen from a pool of over 1,800 applicants. The student-athletes will meet to discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision making, and problem solving skills. This conference is an outreach of the successful CHAMPS/Life Skills Program and includes student-athletes from all sports as well as Division I, II, and III.

Bradley and Morales are the fourth and fifth representative from Alvernia College to be invited to the conference since 2004. Bradley was the starting center for the men’s basketball program which won the conference regular season title for the third straight season. Morales is a reserve member of the women’s soccer team which won its first opening season tournament title this year and finished with a 6-9-3 overall record.

Alvernia sophomores Matt Galvin (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) a member of the golf team and Janelle Lynch (Macungie, Pa./Brandywine Heights) the conference field hockey player of the year and a member of the softball team were also nominated to attend the conference.

CHAMPS/Life Skills stands for Challenging Athletes’ Minds for Personal Success and was launched in 1994 to NCAA membership schools. The initiative aims to create a total development program for student-athletes while enrolled at NCAA membership schools.
