Allentown, Pa. (Apr. 18, 2008) – Marywood University, the top seed in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Team Championship, advanced past #4 Alvernia College Friday afternoon to reach the team final against #2 Neumann College a winner over #3 Cabrini College.

Marywood got off to a hot start with wins in all three doubles matches. The Pacers won at No. 1 doubles 8-1 and earned wins at No. 2 and 3 by 8-4 and 8-2 counts respectively. Alvernia sophomore Ryan Lineaweaver (Robesonia, Pa./ELCO) put the Crusaders on the board with a straight-set, 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, but after the Pacers earned wins at No. 1and No. 6 singles to earn the five points necessary for the win and the match was halted.

Alvernia will return to the regular season schedule playing at King’s College on Wednesday.

Baseball
Batted .667 (10-15) with three doubles, one triple, and three RBIs in a 2 win, 2 lose week for the Crusaders. Also scored 9 runs and was perfect in stolen base attempts. (3-3)
Softball
Batted .600 (7-12) in two conference matchups for the Crusaders this week. Two doubles, one triple, and two homeruns contributed to four RBIs for Sorrentino, also plated 6 runs scored.

Friday April 4, 2008 (Reading, PA) - All home and away Alvernia contests scheduled for today have been cancelled due to inclement weather. The home baseball game against Neumann will now be played tomorrow at 2:00 pm. The baseball team will then travel to Neumann Sunday April 6th for a 12:00 noon start. The Men's Tennis match at King's will now be played Wednesday April 23rd at 4:00 p.m. Additionally, the Men's Tennis start time for tomorrow's home match against Cabrini has been delayed to a 3:00 pm start time. The Golf match scheduled to be played today at Moravian has not yet been rescheduled.
