Allentown, Pa. (Apr. 18, 2008) – Marywood University, the top seed in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Team Championship, advanced past #4 Alvernia College Friday afternoon to reach the team final against #2 Neumann College a winner over #3 Cabrini College.
Marywood got off to a hot start with wins in all three doubles matches. The Pacers won at No. 1 doubles 8-1 and earned wins at No. 2 and 3 by 8-4 and 8-2 counts respectively. Alvernia sophomore
Ryan Lineaweaver (Robesonia, Pa./ELCO) put the Crusaders on the board with a straight-set, 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, but after the Pacers earned wins at No. 1and No. 6 singles to earn the five points necessary for the win and the match was halted.
Alvernia will return to the regular season schedule playing at King’s College on Wednesday.
