Union, N.J. (Apr. 22, 2008) – Kean University scored eight goals in the first quarter and held a 13-2 halftime lead en route to a 21-4 win over Alvernia College Tuesday evening in non-conference men’s lacrosse action at Kean.

Alvernia College senior Tom Novak (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) scored three goals and assisted on the fourth to fellow senior Martin Novia (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville). Novak tied his personal best with his 33rd goal of the season and has 92 goals for his career entering Saturday’s season finale at Centenary College.

Alvernia split time between all three goalies on the roster on Tuesday with Joseph Cepparulo (Southampton, Pa./Archbishop Wood) making four saves. Kean also used a trio of netminders who combined for 13 saves.

Alvernia will be at Centenary on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. start.

Softball
Batted .600 (7-12) in two conference matchups for the Crusaders this week. Two doubles, one triple, and two homeruns contributed to four RBIs for Sorrentino, also plated 6 runs scored.
Baseball
Batted .667 (10-15) with three doubles, one triple, and three RBIs in a 2 win, 2 lose week for the Crusaders. Also scored 9 runs and was perfect in stolen base attempts. (3-3)

Reading, PA (May 19, 2008) - Senior midfielder Tom Novak (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) led the Alvernia offense this season with 34 goals and 15 assists. His 49 points this season helped him to break the career record for points with 130, surpassing the previous record of 81. He also set the record for career goals with 93 and career assists with 39. Novak scored at least one goal in every game this season and had a season-high five goals twice. For his efforts Novak was honored with a Second Team All-PAC selection.
