Friday April 4, 2008 (Reading, PA) - All of Alvernia's home and away contests scheduled for today have been cancelled due to inclement weather. The home baseball game against Neumann will now be played tomorrow at 2:00 pm. The baseball team will then travel to Neumann Sunday April 6th for a 12:00 noon start. The Men’s Tennis match at King’s will now be played Wednesday April 23rd at 4:00 p.m. Additionally, the Men's Tennis start time for tomorrow's home match against Cabrini has been delayed to a 3:00 pm start time. The Golf match scheduled to be played today at Moravian has not yet been rescheduled.

Batted .667 (10-15) with three doubles, one triple, and three RBIs in a 2 win, 2 lose week for the Crusaders. Also scored 9 runs and was perfect in stolen base attempts. (3-3)

Softball

Batted .600 (7-12) in two conference matchups for the Crusaders this week. Two doubles, one triple, and two homeruns contributed to four RBIs for Sorrentino, also plated 6 runs scored.

Curry Named Player Of The Year

Reading, Pa. (May 12, 2008) - Seven players from the Alvernia College baseball team were named to the All-Conference teams by the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference led by senior catcher Dale Curry (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) who earned the Crusaders' seventh Player of the Year award in the last eight years and freshman pitcher Chuck Nicholas (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) who earned PAC Rookie of the Year.

Three Crusaders Named All-Tournament

Boyertown, Pa. (May 8, 2008) - The participating coaches in the 2008 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Baseball Championship selected an All-Tournament Team on Thursday with eight players from champion Gwynedd-Mercy College making the squad including junior infielder Tim McMenamin (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) and sophomore outfielder Dan Strack (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost) who were named Tournament Co-MVPs.

Boyertown, Pa. (May 3, 2008) - Centenary College (20-18) scored 10 runs in the third inning and senior Chris Mattson (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) threw a complete game as the third-seeded Cyclones advances to the final series in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Baseball Championships with a 14-4 win over top-seeded Alvernia College (31-12) Saturday evening at Bear Stadium.
