Reading, Pa. (May 12, 2008) – Alvernia College senior McKenna Shafer (Delran, N.J./Cinnaminson), the career leader in goals and points, was named to the Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference First Team by the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference. Freshman Brittany Veith (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) was honored on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Shafer led the Crusaders with 54 goals this season and became the career leader at Alvernia in goals (159), points (188), and is second in career assists (29). She scored a goal in all but one game this season and finished the season on an 11-game scoring streak. Shafer was named PAC Player of the Week on April 14 after scoring 14 goals with one assist including a season-best nine goals in a 20-11 win over Immaculata. Shafer had a pair of nine-point games this season, the second a five-goal, four-assist effort at Neumann. Shafer is making her second straight First Team appearance.

Veith, a freshman attacker for the Crusaders, totaled a goal and an assist and is making her first All-PAC appearance.

Softball
Batted .600 (7-12) in two conference matchups for the Crusaders this week. Two doubles, one triple, and two homeruns contributed to four RBIs for Sorrentino, also plated 6 runs scored.
Baseball
Batted .667 (10-15) with three doubles, one triple, and three RBIs in a 2 win, 2 lose week for the Crusaders. Also scored 9 runs and was perfect in stolen base attempts. (3-3)

Reading, PA (May 13, 2008) - Senior attack McKenna Shafer (Delran, N.J./Cinnaminson) highlighted the women's lacrosse season with a some spectacular individual efforts. She broke the season record in goals with 54 and points with 63 becoming the career leader in both categories with 159 career goals and 188 career points. Shafer was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Player of the Week on April 14 after scoring 14 goals with one assist in a 1-2 week. Her week was highlighted by a nine-goal effort in a 20-11 win over Immaculata.

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. (April 19, 2008) - Eight different Griffins scored in a 19-3 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference win over Alvernia.

The Griffins (9-6, 7-2 PAC) led 9-0 at halftime, and never looked back.

Senior McKenna Shafer (Delran, NJ / Cinnaminson) scored twice for the Crusaders (2-11, 2-7 PAC). Freshman Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Hubert) added another goal to start off the second half.

For Gwynedd, senior Kalli Bass (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and freshman Colleen Dellostretto (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) led the attack as each netted four goals.
