Boyertown, Pa. (May 8, 2008) – The participating coaches in the 2008 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Baseball Championship selected an All-Tournament Team on Thursday with eight players from champion Gwynedd-Mercy College making the squad including junior infielder Tim McMenamin (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) and sophomore outfielder Dan Strack (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost) who were named Tournament Co-MVPs.

McMenamin had a tremendous all around tournament making the team as both a pitcher and infielder. He threw six innings in the Championship Final allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six. At the plate McMenamin went 6-for-10 and led all players with eight runs scored, 12 knocked in, and three home runs.

Joining McMenamin on the All-Tournament pitching staff were teammates Andrew Ball (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) who gave up just one run in a complete game win, and Sean Middleton (Perkasie, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) who threw seven and a third innings of relief for the Griffins. Alvernia College freshman Chris Stoudt (West Lawn, Pa./Governor Mifflin) joined the Griffins and was the only starter to hold his opponent scoreless going seven innings against Misericordia.

The infield features another trio of Griffins led by McMenamin who made his second consecutive All-Tournament Team appearance. Freshman Mike Albert (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury), who hit all three of his season homers during the tournament, and Scott Carroll (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) joined their teammate McMenamin. The final two infielders were Centenary sophomore Mark Cerrachio (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) and Alvernia freshman Tim Ahlquist (Millville, N.J./Millville).

Centenary College senior Jared Grant (Flanders, N.J./CC of Morris) was a unanimous selection at catcher going 8-for-17 with three doubles, a homer, and eight RBIs. Sophomore teammate Mike Fasano (Hawthorne, N.J./St. Joe’s Regional) was selected as the team’s designated hitter.

The outfield consists of Co-MVP Strack, who was second behind McMenamin with 11 RBIs and a pair of home runs, GMC senior Mark Mattes (Doylestown, Pa./C.B. East), Alvernia senior Tim Carroll (Bensalem, Pa./Conwell Egan), and Centenary sophomore Mark DeMaio (Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills).
