Center Valley, Pa. (Oct. 10, 2009) - Running in the biggest field of the season Alvernia University senior Bridget Burger (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) finished 47th out of 221 runners at the DeSales Women's Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning leading the Crusaders to a 19th place finish out of 25 teams.

Burger finished the 6K course in 25:39 to pace the Crusaders.  Next in for the Crusaders was freshman Emily Bieber (Blandon, Pa./Oley Valley) at 144th place in 28:54.  Freshman Emily Dietz (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) finished 177th in a time of 30:54.  Kate Roesch (Glenville, Pa./Oldfields) was 200th in 33:44, and Lauren Rocchino (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Center) was the fifth finisher for the Crusaders at 38:04.

Alvernia will run again next Saturday at Hood College.

(May 1, 2010) Reading, Pa - Alvernia University hosted the first annual Reading Wounded Warrior 5k Race/Walk to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a national organization supporting wounded veterans. The race is hosted around the nation to honor and support the daily sacrifices made by the brave men and women in all branches of the United States Military. The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded warriors by raising awareness and enlisting the public's aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.

(Nov. 14, 2009) - Senior Bridget Burger (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholilc) finished the 6K women's race in 103rd (24:32) and freshman Chris Brennan (Reading, Pa./Exeter) finished the 8K men's race in 209th (29:21) as the Crusaders finished 44th as a team in both races at the NCAA Cross Country East Regional at Lehigh University.

Burger finished 52 seconds off the pace set by race winner Roni Frey of Shenandoah.
