Grantham, Pa. (Oct. 24, 2009) - Messiah College (14-1, 4-0) scored six goals after halftime to run away with an 8-0 win over Alvernia University (4-11, 1-4) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference men's soccer action at Shoemaker Field.

The Falcons scored in the 13th and 26th minute and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.  Despite a decided 16-1 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes Messiah was just up a pair of goals.  Drew Gilbert (Reading, Pa./Antietam) made three of his eight saves in the first half.

Messiah came out with a quick goal in the second scoring before the second half was a minute old.  It added a fourth goal in the 53rd minute, the fifth in the 59th minute, and scored the final three goals in the final 10 minutes of play.

Alvernia travels to Delaware Valley next Tuesday.

Senior Chris Lasher (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) represented Men's Soccer, sophomore Amy Mesce (Pittstown, Pa./Delaware Valley Regional) represented Women's Soccer, and senior Jaclyn Guignet (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) represented Field Hockey.

(Oct. 29, 2009) - Alvernia University sophomore Eric Franks (Reading, Pa./Exeter) scored with under five minutes to play to give the Crusaders (4-12) a 2-1 lead, but Delaware Valley College (7-9-1) scored with four seconds left and again with under three minutes left in the second overtime for a 3-2 win Thursday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at DVC.
