BOX SCORE

Doylestown, Pa. (Oct. 29, 2009) - Alvernia University sophomore Eric Franks (Reading, Pa./Exeter) scored with under five minutes to play to give the Crusaders (4-12) a 2-1 lead, but Delaware Valley College (7-9-1) scored with four seconds left and again with under three minutes left in the second overtime for a 3-2 win Thursday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at DVC.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net for almost the first full hour with Alvernia freshman EJ Logan (Frederick, Md./Frederick) breaking the scoreless tie with his second goal of the season at 59:10 assisted by Lucas Blair (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin).  That lead didn't last six minutes when Del Val scored the equalizer in the 66th minute.

The game went nearly another 20 minutes before Franks netted his third of the season assisted by James Mellon (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) to give Alvernia a 2-1 lead with 4:40 left to play.

Alvernia took the lead into the final seconds of play, but the Aggies were once again able to net the game-tying goal, this time with just four seconds left in regulation.

The first overtime was scoreless despite six shots from the Crusaders, and Del Val earned the win when Tom Masterson scored on a corner kick with just under two and a half minutes left in the second overtime.

Sophomore Drew Gilbert (Reading, Pa./Antietam) went the distance in net for the Crusaders and stopped five.  DVC split time between two goalies who combined for eight saves.

Alvernia will wrap up the season hosting Arcadia University as part of a women's and men's doubleheader on Saturday.
