Crusaders Battle To Scoreless Tie
Alvernia Hangs With Arcadia Through Two Overtimes

Reading, Pa. (October 31, 2009) - Alvernia (4-12-1, 1-5-1 Comm.) battled the visiting Knights from Arcadia (11-5-3, 4-1-1 Comm.) to a scoreless tie this evening in Commonwealth Conference action at Schlager Memorial Field.  Prior to the game seniors Austin Keller (Denver, Pa./Cocalico), Chris Lasher (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) and Adam Lush (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) were honored.

The first half saw Arcadia fire off seven shots and earn five corners.  Alvernia goalie Drew Gilbert (Reading, Pa./Antietam) would need two saves to preserve the first half shut out.  Alvernia managed two shots and one corner in the first half.

The second half saw slightly more action with the Knights connecting for nine shots and the Crusaders had five.  Both goalies would need three saves to force overtime.  

Both teams would threaten in overtime with multiple shots, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.

Doylestown, Pa. (Oct. 29, 2009) - Alvernia University sophomore Eric Franks (Reading, Pa./Exeter) scored with under five minutes to play to give the Crusaders (4-12) a 2-1 lead, but Delaware Valley College (7-9-1) scored with four seconds left and again with under three minutes left in the second overtime for a 3-2 win Thursday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at DVC.
