BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (October 31, 2009) - The Alvernia Women's Soccer team (3-16, 0-7 Commonwealth) dropped their final game of the season 0-2 to Arcadia University (14-1-3, 6-1 Commonwealth) in a Commonwealth Conference match-up this afternoon at Schlager Memorial Field.  Seniors Kate McCaffrey (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert), Jasmine Morales (Montville, NJ/Montville) and Dezaree Reis (Audobon, NJ/Audobon) were honored prior to the game.

The first half saw the Knights from Arcadia out shoot Alvernia 9-4 and hold the edge in corners 3-1.  Despite this, the game remained tied at the half thanks to three first half saves from Kirsten Kelley (Kirkwood, Pa./Bishop Shanahan).  The Knights best chance to score came in the second minute of play when Ashley Knueppel fired a shot that hit the post.

Arcadia took the 1-0 lead just after halftime in the 48th minute when Katie O'Malley found Dana Faulks open in front of the net off an indirect kick.  Faulks one-timed it into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season.  The Knights would add an insurance goal at 64:25 when Janelle Jablonski netted her eighth goal of the season off a pass from Stephanie Welch.

Seniors McCaffrey, Morales and Reis all saw action in this afternoon's game.  It was McCaffrey's 71st career game.  She has started in 67 games, mostly on defense while tallying seven career goals.  Morales saw action in 18 games this season with two goals, while Reis played in 41 games through her career.
