McIntyre Named Commonwealth Player Of The Week
Junior Earns The Third Weekly Award For Alvernia

Reading, Pa. (Feb. 1, 2010) - Junior guard Kelli McIntyre (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) was named the Commomwealth Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. This is the third weekly conference award for Women's Basketball after sophomore Angela Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity) earned the award twice (12/1, 1/4).

McIntyre returned to action for the Crusaders on Jan. 2 after joining the Army and sitting out the fall portion of the season.  Since Jan. 2nd McIntyre has started every game except for one and averaged 15 points.  This past week she averaged 21 points per game, while scoring her 1,000th career point at Neumann (1/28). She had three steals in each of the three games this week and added three blocks at Moravian (1/26).

Alvernia posts a 9-7 record, 5-3 in the Commonwealth Conference and will return to action when they travel to Arcadia for a conference game Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m.

Reading, Pa. (April 7, 2010) - 14 Alvernia student-athletes earned recognition on the Middle Atlantic Conferences Winter Academic Honor Roll. The Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or higher and completed the playing season in good standing.

March 11, 2010 (Reading, Pa) - The Women's Basketball team hosted a basketball clinic for the South Reading Youth Initiative (SRYI). There were about 40 children that came to this event; a great turnout.

(Mar. 6, 2010) - Sixth-seeded Alvernia University (17-10) stuggled with shots and taking care of the ball during a pivotal 10-minute stretch of the second half in a 74-69 loss to #2 St. Vincent College Saturday afternoon in semifinal action of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Semifinal at St. Vincent.
