LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS
Alvernia is located three miles from center-city Reading, in the scenic Blue Mountain area of eastern Pennsylvania. The 55-acre campus adjoins Angelica Lake. Public transportation provides service to within walking distance of the campus.

Alvernia College is noted for its accessibility to metropolitan and historical areas of interest. Near enough to New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore to share their cultural and educational opportunities, the college is also only a short distance from the Amish country in nearby Lancaster and York Counties.

REGIONAL DIRECTIONS TO ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY
From New York, Northern Pennsylvania, and Northern New Jersey
Take I-81 to Route 61 South to Route 222 South / 422 West. Follow 222 South toward Reading/Lancaster. After passing the Broadcasting Road exit, merge left onto US Route 422 East (towards Pottstown) to the Lancaster Avenue exit (left-lane). At traffic light, turn right, then immediately get in left lane. Travel 50 feet to next light, turn left onto Route 10 South (Queen City Restaurant is on corner). Travel one-half mile to Upland Avenue (at Lincoln Plumbing and Heating). Turn right and follow Upland through three stop signs and over a small railroad bridge. Turn left onto Saint Bernardine Street at the sign for Alvernia University. Go one block and turn right. Go three blocks and turn left at the Alvernia University sign.

From Pennsylvania Turnpike, Eastern/Western Pennsylvania, and Southern New Jersey
Use Pennsylvania Turnpike Exit 298, Morgantown/Reading. Take I-176 North toward Reading. Take the left exit, 11B, and merge onto 422 West toward Reading. Take the 222 South (Lancaster Avenue) left-lane exit. At the traffic light, turn left, and make an immediate left at the next light onto Route 10 South (Queen City Restaurant is on the corner). Travel one-half mile to Upland Avenue (at Lincoln Plumbing and Heating). Turn right and follow Upland through three stop signs and over a small railroad bridge. Turn left onto Saint Bernardine Street at the sign for Alvernia University. Go one block and turn right. Go three blocks and turn left at the Alvernia University sign.

From Baltimore, York, and Lancaster
Take I-83 to York, then Route 30 East to Lancaster. Follow Route 222 North (Lancaster Avenue) toward Reading. Pass 568 exit and take Business 222 (Shillington) exit. Follow Business 222 through Shillington to Kenhorst Boulevard. Turn right (CVS, Citgo Station, and Used Car Dealer at intersection) onto Kenhorst Boulevard and follow it to a 'T' at the top of the hill. Turn left onto New Holland Road and watch for Alvernia sign at the corner of New Holland and Upland Avenue. Turn right. Go three blocks to Jackson Street. Turn right again, go one block, turn right once more. Alvernia is on your left.

From Central New Jersey and Allentown
Take U.S. Route 22 / I-78 West to Route 222 South (Reading).  After crossing PA Route 73, you will bear right again onto the Route 222. After passing the Broadcasting Road exit, merge left onto US Route 422 East (towards Pottstown) to the Lancaster Avenue exit (left-lane). At traffic light, turn right, then an immediate left lane onto Route 10 South (Queen City Restaurant is on corner). Travel one-half mile to Upland Avenue (at Lincoln Plumbing and Heating). LOCAL DIRECTIONS TO ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY
Alvernia University is located in the Millmont section of Reading, an area roughly bordered by Route 222 to the North, Route 10 to the East, Route 724 to the South, and Route 625 to the West.

From center city Reading
Take Business Route 222 South (4th Street) across the Bingaman Street Bridge. Move into the left lane. At the second light (Queen City Restaurant is on the corner) turn left onto Route 10 (Morgantown Road). Travel approximately 0.7 mile to Upland Avenue (Lincoln Plumbing and Heating is on the right). Turn right and follow Upland Avenue through three stop signs and over a small bridge. Turn left onto Saint Bernardine Street and proceed one block to stop sign. Turn right onto Greenway Terrace and travel along two blocks. The entrance to the campus is on the left, adjacent to the Alvernia University sign.

From the North
Take Route 422 East (West Shore Bypass) to the Lancaster Avenue exit (traffic exits from the left lane). At traffic light, turn right, then an immediate left lane onto Route 10 South (Queen City Restaurant is on corner). Travel one-half mile to Upland Avenue (at Lincoln Plumbing and Heating). Turn right and follow Upland through three stop signs and over a small railroad bridge. Turn left onto Saint Bernardine Street at the sign for Alvernia University. Go one block and turn right. Go three blocks and turn left at the Alvernia University sign.

From the Wyomissing and West Reading area
Take Museum Road to Kenhorst Blvd. Proceed on Kenhorst Blvd. across Lancaster Avenue to New Holland Road (Route 625). Turn left onto New Holland Road and travel approximately .3 mile to Upland Avenue. Turn right onto Upland Avenue and proceed up the hill three blocks to Jackson Street. Turn right and go to the stop sign. Turn right onto Greenway Terrace. Entrance to the campus is on the left, adjacent to the Alvernia University sign.

From the West and South via Route 724
From Route 724 turn onto Route 625 (New Holland Road) heading northeast toward Reading. Proceed on New Holland Road approximately 1 mile to Upland Avenue. Follow remainder of local directions in #3 above.

From the South via Route 10
Take Route 10 North. Approximately .5 mile past Angelica Lake turn left onto Upland Avenue (Lincoln Plumbing and Heating is on the left). Follow remainder of local directions #1 above.

From Campus:  Located just off the south end of campus.  Exit out of the Alvernia University entrance and make a right onto Greenway Terrace.  Follow Greenway straight into Angelica Park where it will lead to a parking lot for Tennis, Baseball, and Softball.

Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex is conveniently located just off of Route 222, north of the city of Reading. Visitors should exit Route 222 at Spring Ridge Drive and turn right at the first traffic light. You’re now on Paper Mill Road and the entrance is on your right just past the Turkey Hill Market. More detailed directions are given below.

From North: Take Rt. 61 S to 222 S. Follow 222 S to the Spring Ridge Drive exit. Take this exit and turn right off the ramp. The Body Zone entrance is just ahead on your right.

From Philadelphia (and East): Take I-76 W (PA Turnpike) to the Morgantown exit. Take this exit and follow signs to I-176 N. Take I-176 N to 422 W (use left lane exit for Reading). Stay on 422 W past the Penn Avenue exits. Do not turn off this main road; 422 W becomes 222 N. Stay on 222 N to the Spring Ridge Drive exit. Exit here and turn left at the stop sign. Proceed to the traffic light in front of you and turn right onto Paper Mill Road. The Body Zone entrance is just ahead on your right.

From West (via Turnpike): Take I-76 E (PA Turnpike) to Reading exit.  Take 222 N toward Reading. Follow 222 N to the Spring Ridge Drive exit. Take this exit and turn left off the ramp. The Body Zone entrance is just ahead on your right.

From Lancaster: Take Rt. 30 to 222 N. From 222 N. Follow 222 N until the Spring Ridge Drive exit. Exit here and turn left at the stop sign. Proceed to the traffic light in front of you and turn right onto Paper Mill Road. The Body Zone entrance is just ahead on your right.

From Allentown: From Rt. 78 W take the exit for 100 S. Take 100 S until it meets up with 222 S. Take 222 S toward Reading until you see the Spring Ridge Drive exit (just after the exit for Rt. 183). Take the Spring Ridge Drive exit, and turn right off the ramp. The Body Zone entrance is just ahead on your right.

From Harrisburg: Take Rt. 78 E until you reach Rt. 183. Merge onto Rt. 183 S. Follow 183 S to 222 S. Take 222 S for a short distance to the Spring Ridge Drive exit. Take this exit and turn right at the stop sign at the end of the ramp and right again at the traffic light. The Body Zone entrance is just ahead on your right.

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2009) - Homecoming and Family weekend at Alvernia University culminated Sunday afternoon in the induction ceremony of the 2009 Class of the Athletics Hall of Fame. Inducted on Sunday were Cristie Ansbach, Daimen Hunter, Carl Solarek, Jr., Steve Westley, and the 1991 Baseball team.
