Turf Field Schedule


Hours of Operation
• 6:00 am – 11:00 pm daily
• The turf and track are closed for recreational use during all games, practices and scheduled activities.

Open Recreation/Free Play Hours
• Anytime between 6:00 am – 11:00 pm except during scheduled practice, games, and activities
• Under the lights on selected nights
• Safety lighting provides adequate light for use of the track when the turf lights are not on. As always, however, please remain vigilant about your safety and use the track in pairs
• A yellow Emergency Call Box is located just outside the fence closest to the parking lot for your safety.
• Equipment (balls, Frisbees, etc.), can be signed out (with ID) in the Weight Room or in the Public Safety Office
• Schedules are subject to change and will be available through the above link

Prohibited Items/Activities
• No gum, sunflower seeds, or tobacco use.
• No pets, bikes, rollerblades, or skateboards.
• No cleats/spikes of any kind on track. No metal cleats/spikes on turf.
• No drinks on the track/turf other than water. Colored/flavored drinks can damage the surfaces.
• In accordance with the Alvernia University Alcohol Policy, and NCAA regulations, alcohol is not permitted in or around the facility at any time. (For more information about the alcohol policy, please see the Alvernia University Student Handbook)

Student groups/organizations who wish to reserve the turf/track for an activity should contact Laura Gingrich, Associate Athletic Director, at extension 8273 or laura.gingrich@alvernia.edu.

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2009) - Homecoming and Family weekend at Alvernia University culminated Sunday afternoon in the induction ceremony of the 2009 Class of the Athletics Hall of Fame. Inducted on Sunday were Cristie Ansbach, Daimen Hunter, Carl Solarek, Jr., Steve Westley, and the 1991 Baseball team.

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 18, 2009) - On September 15th the Department of Athletics and Recreation collaborated with Student Activities to host a ‘ThinkFast' game show on campus. This event was attended by many students on campus including a large percentage of Alvernia's student athletes. This presentation was part of the NCAA CHAMPS/LifeSkills initiative which was created to support the student-athlete development initiatives of NCAA member institutions and to enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience within the context of higher education.

The Alvernia University Department of Athletics & Recreation mourns the loss of NCAA President Myles Brand. Brand, NCAA president since January 2003, died September 16 after a nine-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
